Volcano LavaTube Review

Volcano has always been at the top of the e-cigarette heap, and the LavaTube proves it. As one of their more premium offerings, it certainly doesn’t come cheap; the LavaTube is a high-end product, and it is immediately apparent when you first catch sight of it. It’s no sleeper under the hood, either, especially since this particular model happens to be one of Volcano’s flagship electronic cigarette offerings.

High performance combined with a sleek, stainless steel finish are certainly premium features, but are they right for the price? The fact that it’s a more premium product may appeal more to veteran vapers; but the expandability and performance also make it a viable purchase for beginners with deeper pockets. If you’ve got the cash to spend, then have a closer look at Volcano’s LavaTube to appease an oral fixation with expensive tastes.

The Volcano LavaTube

Big and hefty in both physical size and price, the Volcano LavaTube is not for vapers with faint hearts, or shallow wallets. The only other product that really compares to an e-cigarette in this class is the ProVari ProVape; and that clocks in at about $150. The LavaTube can be had for just under $100 as a package deal with other accessories.

With such a price, you’d be expecting the unit to perform well, at the very least. And it does; under the oversized metal hood is Volcano’s very own proprietary boost circuit mechanism. A button on the LavaTube itself allows a user to control the overall voltage output of the battery, affecting the vapor output in turn.

The battery itself itself is a beast; a 1600mAh battery powers the LavaTube for extended smoking sessions, or just bigger helpings of flavor. User-selectable voltages are available from three to six volts; much more than a traditional e-cigarette’s average of about 3.4 volts. Vapor production with different voltages will definitely be something you will take time to tinker with.

The proprietary system of operation is also regulated; meaning that when you set a certain voltage, it will always regulate the same amount battery power vapor per puff every time you use it.

While more advanced e-cigarettes like the LavaTube and ProVari are certainly more complicated to operate, they will not blow up in your face if you somehow manage to botch the setup procedure. When a component like the battery is inserted into the LavaTube the wrong way, for example, the e-cigarette’s disconnection system bars the system from powering on at all.

Just because the LavaTube is a little more complicated to get working than your garden variety twist-and-puff e-cigarette doesn’t mean it requires a rocket scientist to operate. A cap on one end of the LavaTube can be unscrewed for battery replacement, and the unit can be refilled any time through a convenient drip-tip opening. It also accepts typical 510-sized replacement cartomizers, too.

To take a puff, a mouthpiece is inserted on one end of the LavaTube. The cap must be unscrewed before you are able to insert the mouthpiece, much like the battery on the other end.

The LavaTube is operated with three buttons present near the end of the unit. A plus, minus, and red power button allow a user to toggle various aspects of the e-cigarette. Naturally, the plus and minus buttons allow you to switch the voltage output of the unit, while the red button toggles the main power switch. Adjustments made to the voltage are done in 0.1 voltage increments.

Each item, save for the atomizers and cartomizers, are covered by a one-year warranty period bound by certain terms and conditions. Just so you know, the liquids and official apparel are not covered by the one-year warranty, either.

The official website offers the Volcano LavaTube for $99.99, and maybe even cheaper if you have a coupon code to use. This price might put off some smokers from picking it up, but experienced vapers with much deeper pockets may appreciate the combination of quality, performance and technology that the LavaTube offers.

The Volcano LavaTube Kit

For this price, buyers will be able to get the LavaTube, along with a complete set of accessories for immediate setup and useage. Users will be able to learn how to operate the LavaTube with the items that are included, and will be rewarded with great-quality vapors with a hearty throat hit. Let’s look at what comes with the kit:

•    The unit itself, which features three buttons, an LCD screen, a standard 510 connection, as well as ports for the battery and mouthpice
•    One high-drain 18650 rechargeable LiMN battery
•    One multi-charger, compatible with both wall outlets and USB power
•    One drip tip/mouthpiece
•    One 3ohm High Resistance LavaTube Atomizer
•    A cushioned carry case for protection and portability

Being Volcano’s flagship product, the LavaTube also enjoys a complete lineup of accessories. Everything from refillable cartomizers, to new atomizers, and even the proprietary Tube Tank can be bought, if the $100 LavaTube just isn’t enough to begin with. Cosmetic enhancements, such as different drip tips and carrying cases will also sweeten the deal.

A veteran adapter of the e-cigarette, or maybe just the beginner with deep pockets, may find a reason to justify such an expensive purchase just to appease an oral fixation. The Volcano LavaTube might even be the last complete e-cigarette product you will ever end up buying, sans the extra flavors and some accessories!
